We learn to give ourselves away

Somehow it doesn’t feel
like I learned it,
but I’ve always wanted to.
Give myself away.
My pisces water heart always
looking to be cradled, to find buoyancy
in someone else’s arms.
The word ‘love’ a tone I could
hear for infinity – always clinging
to the ring of it, a diamond chime
I could wear like a necklace.

Is giving yourself away so bad?

What I’ve learned is this:

Give it all up – but only after
you’re so full of stardust that
there is no way you can be dimmed.

And then, hell yes.

Explode. Because you know
now that your light is a becon
that you’ve already fueled, and
even when they all hold their breath
and blow it out in one shot,
you can laugh at the way
it can never, ever again

create wind in your universe.
